The Proper Way To Re-install Yahoo Messenger

After clicking above and downloading the version you want, (save it to your computer)
Save it to my documents or somewhere on your hard drive for future use in case you have to re-install it again.

IF you have your archives enabled, will you really miss them if you delete them all?

is a question that you need to answer yourself.
It is best if you delete them all.
They may be one of the problems you are having.
So if you can live without them, delete them ALL. Then skip the next step.

IF
YOU WANT TO SAVE YOUR ARCHIVES:
Right click on your Yahoo! Messenger Icon
Left click on 'Properties', then click on 'Find Target'
When the window opens, find the folder named 'Profiles',
Right click on the 'Profiles' folder, move your mouse to 'Send To'
Left click on 'My Documents'
This copies the 'Profiles' folder to your My Documents!
Right click on your Yahoo! Messenger Icon
Left click on 'Properties', then click on 'Find Target'
When the window opens, find the folder named 'Profiles',
Right click on the 'Profiles' folder, move your mouse to 'Send To'
Left click on 'My Documents'
This copies the 'Profiles' folder to your My Documents!
You
will be able to move it back after you re-install yahoo.
Make sure to exit Yahoo! Messenger
completely.
(If you
don't, the un-installation will not fail, but it will not finish properly
removing Yahoo! from your pc.)
Click on the Start button on the taskbar.
Select Settings and then open Control Panel (Control Panel if using XP)
Click on Add/Remove Programs.
Scroll down and highlight Yahoo!
Messenger.
Click on remove, and choose the 'Custom' option if available.
Then click 'Select all'
then 'Next', then 'Select all'
then', until yahoo is uninstalled.
Check for other references to yahoo, if you find any, remove them all.
At this point reboot your computer.

Install
Yahoo! Messenger again.
Once the Messenger is installed, restart your system.
IF you moved your Profiles
folder, it is safe to put it back:
